The exciting new programme is open to boys and girls aged between 13 and 18-years-old and is run over seven weeks – starting on January 9 at Rodney Parade between 5pm and 6pm.
The aim of Future Dragons is to develop inspiring young players to improve their own performance, delivering a combination of strength, conditioning and rugby technical skills surrounding the contact area.
The provision will also help young players improve individual performance and knowledge to help improve confidence and competence in the grassroots game, to help them become better athletes.
There will be fitness testing to find a base for everyone and each week will cover a different athletic attribute to help develop performance.
Nutrition guidance is also available alongside training plans to give those on the programme the extra edge for games and be ready for retesting.
- Detailed position specific fitness requirements:
- Aerobic Fitness
- Muscular Endurance
- Speed
- Agility
- Power
- Movement patterns and how to improve them to assist in injury prevention:
- Initial Movement Screening (Mobility of the Ankle, Hips, Core & Shoulders)
- Breakdown of contact area, advancing handling and further developing decision-making skills through various drills, activities.
- To educate players on the importance of nutrition in their development alongside giving guidance with nutrition pre/post-match and training.
There are three packages available to book on NOW:
- Basic package – seven-week programme - £120
- Silver package – seven-week programme, plus an individual exercise program.
- Gold package – seven-week programme, plus exercise program plus a nutritional guide.
