Newport Gwent Dragons are delighted to announce that four of the current Dragons squad have pledged their future to the region. Captain Jason Forster, full back Kevin Morgan, lock Luke Charteris and flanker Jamie Ringer have all signed new contracts that will see them remain an integral part of the regional team.

“Naturally we are delighted that Jason, Kevin, Luke and Jamie have signed new contracts with the region,” commented team manager Jim McCreedy.

“They are very much a part of what we want to achieve on the field and their contribution to the team this season has been outstanding. We are delighted they have pledged their future with The Dragons.”

Captain Jason Forster joined Rodney Parade in 1999 playing for Newport and has been with The Dragons since the formation of the region two years ago and has captained the team this season, “There is a great potential within the squad at the region with a fantastic atmosphere. There are good times ahead and we want to win something. The players have gelled fantastically well and we want to fulfil our potential and clinch some silverware.”

Morgan who joined The Dragons at the start of the season has put in some outstanding displays, which led to a call up into the Welsh national squad and he clinched the winning Grand Slam try against Ireland. Morgan who finished top Celtic League try scorer is pleased to be staying with the region and be a part of The Dragons ambitions on and off the field. “I am enjoying my rugby at the moment and am delighted to sign a new contract with the region who are committed to going forward,” commented Morgan. “There is tremendous team spirit and the team are keen to achieve and perform in the Celtic League and Heineken Cup. There is a good squad at The Dragons and we have tremendous support, those were also key factors in me signing a new contract. Above all I want to play a role in helping the team challenge for and achieve silverware.”

The Dragons have the opportunity to secure some silverware with the Celtic Cup competition starting tonight as they take on fellow Welsh rivals the Scarlets at Rodney Parade in the quarter finals. Luke Charteris starts for The Dragons in their match against the Scarlets fresh from signing a new contract with the region, “I am enjoying playing my rugby for The Dragons and we have a good promising team. There is a great bunch of lads in the squad and I am excited about next year. I believe The Dragons are heading in the right direction and I want to be part of a team that is challenging for honours.”

Flanker Jamie Ringer signed for The Dragons when rugby went regional two years ago and has made 53 appearances for the region and that tally is sure to increase now that he has pledged his future with The Dragons. “It was an easy decision to pledge my future with The Dragons,” commented Jamie. “I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of the region. I believe the team is capable of achieving silverware and is heading in the right direction both on and off field. This ambition is reflected in key players pledging their future to the region. There is a good mix of young players in the squad with experienced players and next season is set to be a very exciting one for the region and I relishing being a part of that.”
