Dragons U18s just miss out on a win

The Dragons U18s are still without a win in the WRU Reebok Regional Championships after Wednesday night's 16-10 defeat at the hands of the Ospreys at Aberavon.

Kath McCarthy | 10/11/2005

Dean Ronan and Leigh Halfpenny crossed for tries in the first half for the Ospreys with Ben Parry, a hooker who started on the flank, replying for The Dragons. Jason Tovey, who converted Parry's try, added a second half penalty but Halfpenny struck twice with penalties to make sure of the spoils. The scores were tied at 10-10 at half time but Halfpenny's penalties in the second half ensured the win for the Ospreys. Man of the match was Dragons flanker Ben Parry.

Other Result
The Blues  U18s missed out on an opportunity to confirm their place in the final by going down to the Scarlets at Llanharan last night. The Blues led the Scarlets 10-3 at the interval, but went down 24-17 thanks to tries from Matthew Lemon and Rhys Williams plus 14 points from the boot of Daniel Evans. Sam Warburton and Phil Williams crossed for tries for the Blues as they held the upperhand throughout the first half and James Thomas added a brace of conversions and a penalty to leave the hosts in front. However, the Scarlets struck back to gain the honours and leave the Blues with just a bonus point to show for their efforts.
