Newport Gwent Dragons players had a busy weekend attending a number of community events.
On Friday evening Steve Jones and Bryn Griffiths attended the Talywaun U16 presentation evening where they handed out awards to the youngsters.
Saturday was the busiest day for the players with Kevin Morgan attending the Sainsbury’s Sports Relief Mile that was being held in Tredegar Park. Kevin was on hand to start both races which saw hundreds of people competing and raising money for a worthwhile charity.
Also getting involved in Sports Relief were Richard Fussell, Scott Williams, Andrew Coombs and Andrew Brown who went to Sainsbury’s in Cwmbran and helped pack customers bags.
New Dragons players Lee Harrison and Shane Stewart travelled to Senghenydd Rugby Field to open the carnival. Throughout the season The Dragons have established links with a number of clubs throughout the Region and when Senghenydd (who have enjoyed the match day experience this season and formed the guard of honour) contacted the club asking for assistance for their carnival The Dragons were only too happy to help out.
The Dragons players will be involved in community events this week, attending Blackwood Comprehensive School, the opening of the new Bettws Leisure Centre and also the Eveswell Presentation assembly.
