Andy - who was born in Llanelli yet brought up in St Julians, Newport - will be supporting the Dragons wholeheartedly as they clash with the Scarlets for the New Year’s Day derby game. He comments:
“I can’t wait to see the game and sing in front of my local people. I thank the Dragons for giving me the opportunity, as I’ve not had a chance to thank my fans since the show due to contractual agreements. Tomorrow will be a great occasion. My grandparents are huge Scarlets fans and they will be with me at Rodney Parade although there’ll be a little family rivalry as I will be cheering on the Dragons as I’ve done many times over the years growing up in Newport.”
Andy, who played for Pill Rugby Club prior to the X Factor show, added:
“I love rugby and have always followed the Dragons. Unfortunately they’ve had a slow start to the season, especially due to injuries, but hopefully this will be the start of a New Year for the Dragons and I hope my performance starts the New Year with a bang for them and the supporters.”
Tickets for this unique local derby experience are priced from £3 for Juniors and £15 for Adults and can be purchased from the Rodney Parade Ticket Office, or by calling 01633 674990 (please note the Ticket Office will close at 3pm today)
The Dragons team to face the Scarlets will be announced later today. The Dragons wear a limited edition charity shirt in support of Teenage Cancer Trust which will be auctioned via www.teenagecancertrust.org.
