Dragons academy member Jason Tovey has been nominated for the Principality Building Society Premiership Newcomer award which will be presented on Thursday at the Millennium Stadium.
Last year Dragons centre Phil Dollman was awarded the Player of the Year award and he will be on hand to present the award to this years winner. Dollman has enjoyed a great season playing for the senior regional side and scoring in The Dragons European Challenge Cup semi final game against Clermont.
In total there are five awards, Best Newcomer, Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Services to Rugby and the Fair Play Award.
Jason became Newport's youngest Premiership player and scorer when he made his debut at the start of the season when still only 18. Strong and versatile, he played at centre and full back for the Black and Ambers and scored six tries in 15 games. Already capped by Wales at Under 16, 18 and 19, he has a bright future ahead of him. A Dragons Academy member, he played for Wales Under 18 at full back and went as a replacement to the IRB Under 19 World Championships in April.
Jason is up against Sam Warburton and Tom James in the category.
