Newport Gwent Dragons receive a boost today as Joe Bearman signs a further two-year contract, taking him to 2010 with the region.
The twenty eight year old Dragons back row, who joined the Men of Gwent from Cornish Pirates in 2005, received further good news having recovered from a successful hernia operation earlier this week.
Joe had played with the injury in recent games yet still managed to clinch Magners Player of the Month recognition for his tremendous effort over the Christmas period.
“Since arriving at the Dragons I’ve enjoyed my rugby and enjoyed Wales and instantly made it my home. Not only is it a great team to be a part of, it’s one with a vision going into the new stadium in the next three years. The future looks good. I’m proud to be part of the region and excited about my time here,” said Joe.
Head Coach Paul Turner added: “As we expected, Joe has been outstanding for the region. He can play all over the back row and it's even been mentioned to him that he could play on the wing. He's been tremendous and thoroughly deserved the Magners recognition he received over the New Year period. In fact, he's been one of our players of the season and we’re thrilled that he’s signed to stay another two years and showed his faith in the region.”
Joe is hopeful that he will join the Dragons against Ulster at Ravenhill on Friday 15 February, kick-off 19.30.
