Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC pledge their support today for Newport County AFC ahead of their FAW Premier Cup Final game at home against Llanelli on Tuesday 11 March (kick-off 7pm).
Alex Walker and Lewis Evans from the Dragons and Newport’s Matthew Veater were at the Newport Stadium wishing all the best to the Newport County lads who will take on their Llanelli rivals next week.
Each of the boys have followed Newport County throughout their sporting development within the region. Lewis Evans recognises the challenge that they will face against the West Wales side:
“I’ve always supported Newport County and was pleased when they got a win in the semi-finals against Cardiff to take them through to this stage. The final is a tough place to be, especially against a capable Llanelli team, but we’re very much behind the County and hope that they can do it.”
Dragons team-mate Alex Walker added: “It was good to met some of the team today and I’d say that they’re definitely fired up for a positive performance in the final.”
Newport’s Matthew Veater also offered some advice to the players: “Do it for Newport!” he said.
Newport County AFC Team Manger Pete Beadle met with the players at the ground this afternoon. He said: “I thank the boys for coming here and showing their support. I welcome their backing and hope that all sports clubs and fans are able to do the same.”
Newport County announced that all children accompanied by an adult would be given free admission to the final next Tuesday.
