Training as Usual, but at Newbridge RFC
Newport Gwent Dragons promote rugby in the region as they support Newbridge RFC in their open day on Monday 24 March, which begins at 11.00am.
Dragons assistant coaches Leigh Jones and Dai Rees will lead a training session ahead of their home clash with Glasgow Warriors on Sunday 30 March at the Newbridge ground.
Forwards and defence coach Leigh Jones commented:
“As a region we always enjoy our work within the community and it’s particularly great to get out into the valleys next week. All three Dragons coaches are Valley Boys, with Dai and Paul coming from illustrious Newbridge RFC backgrounds.
“The team training session will emulate a normal session to show our supporters exactly how we go about preparing for our Magners fixture on the weekend. We appreciate the support we get throughout the region and are happy to support Newbridge for what should be a successful day of rugby and fun for all the family.”
Newbridge RFC Commercial Manager, Matthew Jones, added:
“We are delighted that the Newport Gwent Dragons have accepted our invitation to attend our inaugural open day. We are opening our door to all rugby supporters in the region for what should be a fantastic day.
“It will be a unique opportunity to see the Dragons on the road and they should be applauded for their continuing good work embracing the valleys.”
The open day includes the opportunity to get pictures and autographs of all your Dragons heroes, alongside the famous Newbridge tug of war challenge, Byron Hayward’s kicking competition and interactive skills sessions with the Newbridge 1st XV.
