Annual Sevens Tournament Confirmed at Rodney Parade
Dragons confirm that Gwent’s elite rugby teams will go head-to-head at the annual Men of Gwent Sevens tournament at Rodney Parade on Saturday 2 August, with prize money increased to £1200 for the winners and £600 for the runner up in support of the St David’s Foundation.
The tournament, which also includes a mini tag rugby competition and the popular ‘meet the Dragons’ experience, promises to be an action packed day out for all the family with music; bouncy castles, face painting and fairground attractions for the children; paint balling and the St David's Foundation charity raffle.
Dragons Community Manager Mike Sage coordinates the annual event at Rodney Parade. He said:
“Last year’s competition was a great success and many positive comments were received. We have listened to feed back and moved the competition to a Saturday and slightly earlier in order to avoid the pre season matches. It promises to be a great day and the next step in re-establishing a competitive but fun sevens tournament in the Gwent region.”
Tickets for all the family will be launched very soon at Rodney Parade Ticket Office. Keep an eye on the Dragons website www.newportgwentdragons.com for further information.
