On Wednesday, fans will get the chance to see the next generation of rising stars form the region as they line up alongside familiar Dragons faces to take on Worcester Warriors in a development match.
The squad will be made up of senior Dragons needing for some game time, Dragons core academy player and premiership players who have the potential to play regional rugby.
"These matches are a great opportunity for players to be exposed to a level of rugby between premiership and regional rugby and for the Dragons coaches and management to make more informed assessments of these players and the best paths for them to achieve their playing potential,” said Dragons Academy Manager Will Thomas.
“With Academy graduate Dan Lydiate making his Welsh but this weekend, it is testament to the success of our Academy setup and we are confident that it is through development of our local players that we will build on our senior squad and achieve future rugby success. We are also conscious that there are players like Phil Price, who may not have come through a regional academy system but still have the capabilities of playing regional rugby. This sort of game provides a great shop window for those players.
“The squad is being coached by Wayne Jones and Shaun Connor who are our academy skills coaches and these games are great development tools for our coaching teams as well as our players.”
