Newport Gwent Dragons centre Matthew Watkins will be unavailable to the Dragons following abdominal surgery to resolve a non-rugby related problem.
The surgery has been very successful and the International star is looking to make a full recovery, although he will be sidelined for several months.
“I’d like to thank everyone at the Dragons for their support,” said Matthew. “The operation was a success and I’m on the road to recovery. I’m looking forward to getting back into a Dragons shirt as soon as possible.”
Dragons Rugby Manager, Robert Beale, added: “We are pleased that Matthew’s surgery has gone well and we wish him the very best for the coming months.
“Although this is obviously a blow for the Dragons we will be delighted when he is able to return to playing duties, our only concern is for Matthew’s overall health and wellbeing.”
