The Dragons picked up a quick-fire double in North Wales with the under 16s and under 18s returning home with morale boosting victories over RGC 1404.
Having seen their opening game, against the Blues, washed out by the rain in midweek, the under 18s came up against a plucky North Wales side who had suffered badly in their opening games of the season against the Blues and Ospreys.
However, having battled hard to gain the ascendancy during a keenly contested first half, the visitors ran out 27-16 winners to register their first points of the season.
The opening 20 minutes were spent almost exclusively within the Dragons 22, as the young North Walians showed a level of commitment that had been absent from their opening defeats.
Twice they were held up close to the visitors try-line before the visitors broke the deadlock courtesy of a penalty from outside half Ethan Davies.
Although the home side's captain Alex Schwarz soon after levelled the scores with a penalty, the Dragons redressed the balance when wing Dominic Franchi went over in the corner for a try Davies duly converted.
Schwarz, once again, cut the deficit with a penalty shortly before half time and Dion Jones crossed to put RGC 1404 in front shortly after the interval.
Unfortunately, from the re-start, RGC twice coughed up possession to allow the Dragons to score crucial tries through Jordan Purcell and Jack Williams.
Thomas Ashmead rounded off the Dragons’ scoring with a converted try while Jason Blackmore finished off a sweeping move for RGC in the final moments.
It was anything but a tight contest for the under 16s at Rydal School, the visitors winning 55-5.
Osian Jones scored a try for the North Walians, but the hosts were no match for the Dragons who crossed nine times. Mitch Starr and Lloyd Rogers helped themselves to two tries, while Jack Dixon, Hallam Amos, Andy Garrett, Rhys Pugsley and Matt Sandercott scored one each.
Rogers converted five of the nine tries as the Dragons ran out comfortable winners.
