If you like a bit of a laugh, then this will definitely be right up your street.
Come to Rodney Parade on Saturday 9 October for an absolutely rib-tickling, unforgettable tour, and presenting none other than his laughter show "My Arse" will be Jim Royle himself – Mr Ricky Tomlinson.
Hosting an evening of rib-tickling stand-up – in the role of his character from the show, Jim Royle – Ricky will be joined by Gary Skyner, the most unusual fellow Scouse comedian for a Royle visit to Newport.
Ricky or Jim Royle as he is better known has also appeared in a range of well-known TV shows, including the soap opera Brookside, and the crime series Cracker. He was sentenced to six years in prison, of which he served two, after being found guilty of 'conspiracy to intimidate' as one of the so-called Shrewsbury-Two, and in 1975 he disrupted the TUC conference by shouting from the wings after he had been prevented from speaking from the stage. It was revealed in 2002 that MI5 had monitored him during the 1970s.
In December 2006 he presented a programme in Five's Disappearing Britain series entitled When Coal was King, in which he made controversial comments about Maggie Thatcher's potential death.
He has also starred in several films, notably Mike Bassett: England Manager, Raining Stones and Hillsborough, a made-for-TV film about the families' of the victims of the Hillsbrough Stadium disaster.
Joining Ricky, Gary Skyner Liverpool's comedian of the year, was the UK's second thalidomide victim and in addition to being a comedian is an effective and inspirational speaker. Gary's inspiring tale of triumph over tragedy will touch your hearts.
Speaking on the up-and-coming Welsh tour to 'The Port' Ricky added, “I have a huge bond with the South Wales area, and particularly enjoy coming back to famous rugby clubs like Newport.”
To enable fans to watch the Newport v Pontypool game first, the show will be starting at 8pm
This very special event brought to you by Rodney Parade Ltd is sure to be a sell-out with tickets available at just £20 each. Further information is also available by contacting Steve Clarke on 07976 062471.
