To say that last week was a disappointment is an understatement. Whilst the guys’ endeavour and attitude was fantastic, the execution, personal skill levels, and defence weren’t up to scratch. There’s no denying that the Blues were on fantastic form last weekend and their performance was something to aspire to.
There was plenty of claret spilled last week with Mat Jones ending the game looking like Donald Duck and Dan Lydiate sporting a fierce split under the eye.
It’s been great over the last few weeks to see the emergence of Lloyd Burns, Pat Leach, Matt Pewtner and Adam Hughes – all of whom are products of our development system. It was particularly good to see Adam Hughes pick up his first Dragons at the City Stadium.
This week we welcome the Scarlet’s, who are in flying form so far this season and have a very full strong pack and some dangerous players in the backs which has seen them score some impressive tries so far this season.
It’s great to hear that so many people came down to Rodney Parade last weekend to watch the game against the Blues. The Clubhouse will be showing all of our UK broadcast away games this season and it’s great that our supporters are going to be able to get together in the home of the Dragons – hopefully our performances will live up to your expectations.
Both teams are going to bring a high-intensity game tonight but we are due a performance and tonight at home the honeymoon period from the start of the season is well and truly over. It’s time we found another gear in our play and I’m confident that we will show that tonight.
By the way – a little person appeal - with the drawing in of the nights, Ben “Grapes” Castle is looking to borrow seasons 4, 5 and 6 of Gossip Girl if anyone can help?
