Newport Gwent Dragons will be proudly supporting the 2011 Abergavenny Rugby festival at the Usk Showground on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1pm.
The squad will be attending over the 2 days with a Dragon joining the coaches of each semi-finalist team to offer their tips, as well as signing autographs and joining in rugby activities. They will each be choosing their stand-out player from their assigned team with the overall player of the tournament receiving a signed Dragons shirt.
Rodney Parade Hospitality Manager Tanya Marno will also be attending to give visitors an update on the development at the ground and the exciting new opportunities it will offer. The Dragons mobile shop will be on-site for visitors to get kitted up in regional attire whilst Rodney the Dragon will be supporting all of the teams taking part.
And with the Dragons Academy coaching team led by Will Thomas will be scouting players as part of their Identification process for next season’s regional age-grade squads, there is certainly everything to play for.
This years’ festival of rugby is the largest in Wales with last season seeing nearly 4300 players and over 215 teams represented by 57 clubs competing in all age groups from Under 7 to Under 16. For the fourth season there will also be a U15 Girls and a U18 Ladies tournament held on the Sunday during the Mini Day and a senior ladies 7-a-side on the Saturday.
The tournament had live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday nights with camping on site, bar and hot food facilities available.
