DRAGONS SET ALIGHT ALICE SPRINGS GC

In between preparing for the new season with gruelling sessions on the notorious Merthyr Mawr sand dunes, our Dragons stars were able to enjoy a slightly more relaxed afternoon of sport as Alice Springs Golf Club played host to the 5^th Annual pre season golf day.

Despite a drizzly start to proceedings, the sun broke through over the Par 69 Monnow Course and the 72 competitors set off to duel in a Texas Scramble Tournament, with a shotgun start kicking off proceedings at 11am.

Each Team consisted of one Dragons player, with official sponsors being treated and tortured over the 18-hole event with great company but occasionally questionable golfing talent of the Men of Gwent.

The Hollywood prize keeping the competitors interested was kindly donated by White Dove with glamorous prizes on all the Par 3’s. The headline attraction was a massive £8,000 towards a new car for any team getting a par 3 on the 7^thHole! Throughout the day many of the team members threatened but the car was in safely back at the White Dove garage at the end of the day’s play.

With only 2 shots separating the top 4 Teams Bisley tipped the front runners to top spot with a Net 53.4 with B&T Transport and General Communications 2^nd follow by Keith Price Garages in 3^rd.

Players who took part included Luke Charteris, Toby Faletau, Adam Jones, Jason Tovey, Jon Evans, Wayne Evans, Steffan Jones, Lewis Robling and Mike Poole.

Supporters wanting to see the intrepid golfers enjoying their day job can see the Dragons take on Leeds Carnegie in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 23 August at Rodney Parade (7:30pm)
