The u16s development travelled to Aberavon on Monday to play Afan Nedd part of the ospreys region. In a scrappy first 1/3rd both sides attempted to play open rugby but were blighted by some strange refereeing decisions.
Afan Nedd opened the scoring after 20mins with a great try by their right wing, this was followed by a converted score after a defensive mix up giving the opponents a healthy looking 12-0 lead half way through the 2nd 1/3rd .
The young dragons then decided to up the gears and opened their account with a fine try scored by no.8 Rhys Finney converted by out-half Calum Jones. From the resulting restart the dragons swept the length of the field for a great score by full back Jack Johnson ending the 2nd 1/3rd 12-12.
The final 1/3rd was totally controlled by the young dragons with 2 length of the field tries scored by wing Jamie Hunter and centre Curtis Ayling the second again being converted by Jones. An excellent 1/3rd was completed with another try scored by s-half Gareth Harris after a neat dummy which Jones again converted giving the young dragons another convincing win to make it 3-0 in their pre-season friendlies.
