Both teams entered the field with great expectations following 2 wins out of 2 matches. The young Dragons were inspired by playing at Rodney Parade and started the games strongly, an awarded penalty quickly converted into points. Niall Martin slotted it over to open the score.
The Dragons continued to widen the gap, Martin notching up a further 3 points with a successful penalty. After the first twenty minutes the Dragons' discipline slipped, and the Blues were awarded several penalties. They'd failed to turn any of them into points and a try denied by the young Dragons, left the half-time score 6-0 to the home side.
The second half was much like the first, heavy rain thrashed the players, making it difficult for both sides to control the ball. Both sides were awarded a penalty - the Blues putting their first points on the board while the Dragons failed to score. However, any hopes the visitors had for taking back the game were shattered in the seventy-second minute when captain James Benjamin crossed the line for the only try of the game, converted by Ethan Davies.
Final score: Dragons 13 - Blues 3
