DRAGONS DEVELOPMENT U16S 18-AFAN NEDD U16S 20
HAFORDRYNYS RFC TUESDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2011
The young Dragons entertained Afan Nedd in their 2nd round cup game of the development tournament on a wet Tuesday evening. The game started slowly with both sides sounding each other out in the early exchanges with the dragons taking an early lead through a James Hussey penalty. However the dragons struggled to get out of first gear and conceded 14 unanswered points going into the break 3-14 down.
After the interval the Dragons came to life after making a few changes to their line-up and deservedly scored a try through Captain Pat knight. A sweeping length of the field move ended in wing Scott Winnell scoring in the right corner leaving the dragons 1 point adrift. Afan Nedd replied with another penalty goal kicked by their impressive out half after. The game was heading to a tense conclusion with the dragons throwing everything at their opponents and they finally managed to take the lead through a try by replacement hooker Jake Thomas who crashed over in the corner to take a 18-17 lead with 1 minute left on the clock.
The lead was short lived after again conceding yet another penalty allowing Afan Nedd to convert to end the game winning 20-18 with the last kick of the match. The Dragons Management would like to thank Hafordrynys RFC for hosting last nights fixture their support is greatly appreciated.
