DRAGONS SEE POSITIVES IN BIARRITZ DEFEAT

Dragons old boy Brew crosses twice in 40-3 PSF defeat in Biarritz

Former Dragon, Aled Brew returned to haunt the Dragons with a brace of tries as they took on Biarritz as part of their pre-season preparations.

New Dragons signing, Tom Prydie scored the only points for the Men of Gwent in a tough encounter that the coaching staff were keen to glean a number of positives from.

Director of rugby Rob Beale admits the defeat was disappointing but assures supporters that there is plenty to build upon ahead of Friday's clash with London Irish.

"It was a tough game and we always knew that would be the case," said Beale.

"We weren't where we needed to be in the first-half and if you give a team like Biarritz those opportunities they will make you pay.

"There were very difficult conditions to play in, even when we kicked-off at 7.00pm it was over 30 degrees. But despite the score-line there were plenty of positives.

"Dan Evans at full-back was outstanding, Darren Waters had a great game at openside and Phil Price did a good job in the scrum.

"There were four or five chances of our own which we were unable to take. We worked hard to get into many of those positions but if you don't cross the whitewash you don't score."
