Dragons Directors and rugby management have met with representatives from the region’s 3 A licence Premiership teams, to discuss the further integration of Premiership and Regional Rugby going forward.
The landmark meeting took place this week at Rodney Parade with representatives from Newport Gwent Dragons, Bedwas, Cross Keys and Newport together with representatives from the WRU Rugby and Compliance departments.
“This was a very important meeting for all the parties in terms of how we are going to move forward to the benefit of the Premiership, Regional Rugby and the National Game,” said Dragons Director of Rugby Robert Beale.
“The Premiership and Regional Rugby both have important roles to play in the future of Welsh Rugby and we are delighted that these key relationships are strong and constantly developing.
“Our relationships with our Premiership clubs have seen the emergence of players such as Phil Price through Bedwas, Dan Way through Newport and of course Toby Faletau through Cross Keys.
“The Premiership review has presented us all with a great opportunity to take rugby forward in Wales and this meeting was the first vital step in ensuring that the revised Premiership is successful in underpinning the professional game.
