Newport Transport has been confirmed as the official transport provider of the Welsh rugby region Newport Gwent Dragons.
The deal, which also includes the provision of transport for Newport RFC, sees Newport Transport strengthen its footing in the sport transport sector.
Earlier this year the bus operator secured the rights to operate the 2012 Six Nations park and ride bus service, while in the summer it announced a partnership with Chepstow Racecourse to run a shuttle bus service on race days.
The company has invested more than £400K in two new, state-of-the-art specialist coaches to expand the private hire operation of its business. Both coaches will be used to transport the Dragons and Newport RFC team.
Robert Beale, Newport Gwent Dragons Director of Rugby, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Newport Transport as our official transport provider for the new season.
“Newport Transport’s reputation for having the best drivers and buses in South Wales makes this a winning partnership for us and one that our players are happy with too. As a professional sport team it is important we provide our players with high-quality transportation and having Newport Transport on board definitely puts us on the right road for success.”
Scott Pearson, Managing Director of Newport Transport, said: “This is another fantastic opportunity for Newport Transport and expands our footing in the sport transport provision sector. Earlier this year we provided the Six Nations Park & Ride buses as well as in the summer agreeing a partnership with Chepstow Racecourse to run shuttle buses on race days. This new partnership with the Dragons and Newport RFC underlines our reputation as a growing force in this area.”
