Try, Try and Try Again

Good things come in threes for Matthew Pewtner

N Stone, S Burt-Ryan, J Littlejohns & O Shepherd | 12/12/2013

Matthew Pewtner is enjoying his best run of games for Newport Gwent Dragons and has managed a new record for the region by scoring a try in the last three home matches, a first for the Dragons.

Matt started his try spree with a scintillating run against Wasps, crossing the whitewash for the only try of the game against Munster and trumped the lot with a determined break against Bordeaux.

Matt has been rewarded for a show of faith in his 15 a side game, as everyone was aware what an excellent 7’s star he has been for Wales. Matthew’s run of tries and games is some welcome bonus for his efforts to break into the first XV.

Now with success against the English, Irish and French teams the Irish and Scots had better beware the man with the try line firmly in his sight!

This article was written by four Year 9 pupils who have been spending time with the Dragons Community Team;

Part of the Community Department's Second Half Project remit is in partnership with local comprehensive school, St Julian's.  Pupils are rewarded for their efforts in school, both academically and in sport, with a placement with the Community Team.

This week they had four excellent pupils who have been an absolute credit to their school with their efforts, diligence and manners.  To top this off they collaborated  to produce the above article which was of such a high standard that it was decided that it should appear on newportgwentdragons.com.

Huge congratulations to the lads; Nathan Stone, Sam Burt-Ryan, Jack Littlejohns and Owen Shepherd - careers in journalism await them all!
