However, for our shop manageress her nerves were jangling a few weeks ago as we all trooped to Caldicot to show the world our brand new Blue away jersey.
“We were a bit nervous about how well our Dragons fans would take to the new kit, it was aimed at rubber stamping our regional aspirations based on the old Monmouthshire colours and with the only Dragons tail logo to indicate the teams name” said Tina Gattrell. “Nevertheless the response was very positive and we had a great day at Caldicot Castle”
And this has been followed on as the new jerseys are literally flying out of the shop, in less than a week the shop has been sold out of the initial deliveries and we have had to call in our October delivery two months early!
The friendly match against Bath saw the trend continue apace as the shop takings were better than against any team last season! Tina added, “We have been overwhelmed by the demand for the jerseys and the supporters have already voted them a great success.”
James Williams Area Sales Manager of Gilbert said “We are delighted to see that the regions supporters have bought into the Kingdom of Gwent concept – we thought the time was right for a bold new direction with regards to the shirt design and we are delighted to see a positive reaction from both the players and supporters.
