Head of Operations, Mark Jones commented: “After the success of last year’s trip to Eugene Cross Park in Ebbw Vale, there has been an appetite throughout the Newport Gwent Dragons to take selected matches into the Dragons Region.
“On top of this, EPCR (European Professional Club Rugby) rules dictate that we need a back-up ground in the event of the pitch being unplayable. The excellent 4G pitch at Ystrad Mynach provides the Dragons with a fantastic back up in the event of adverse weather conditions. The pre-season match against Nottingham will allow us to test drive those facilities and to take a game out into the Region.”
The Dragons have also announced that they will tackle fellow Welsh Region, Scarlets on Friday 21st August, KO 19:00. This match will take place at Rodney Parade, the home of the Newport Gwent Dragons.
They then take on Cardiff Blues at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday 29th August.
Admission to both of the Dragons home matches is free for 2015/16 Season Ticket Holders.
