This annual Twenty20 charity cricket match has seen the Dragons take away two wins at the picturesque Usk ground and on Sunday 19th July Dragons players will make no exceptions.
Many of the Dragons first team squad will be there to cheer on the likes of Jason Tovey, Rynard Landman, Geraint Rhys Jones and Pat Leach who all plan to take part in this exciting afternoon of cricket.
The match is in aid of Usk CC’s chosen charities, St. David’s Hospice Care and Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl Society and admission is £3 per adult with children just £1.
In addition to the cricket match, which starts at 15:00, there will be a junior match which begins at 13:00 as well as the bar being open. There will also be a BBQ along with Ellie’s Cakes serving up some fantastic food throughout the day.
Usk CC chairman Mike Kear commented: “We are proud and privileged to welcome the Dragons back to our ground.
“This fixture has become one to look forward too for our players and supporters, it’s a great bit of fun which raises money for two charities very close to the club’s heart. The crowds have steadily increased over the years and we’re hoping that word has spread and people turn out to help raise some much needed funds. Over £6000 has been raised from the last 2 games.
“We’ve had a tip off that Rynard Landman has strengthened their cricketing ability and with the likes of Pat Leach and Jason Tovey, who last year hit one of the biggest 6’s witnessed on the ground, our lads are really going to have to up their game!”
Newport Gwent Dragons’ centre Pat Leach commented, “The boys and I are very excited to be taking on Usk Cricket Club in the T20. Both of the previous matches have gone down to the last ball and have certainly been played in the right spirit. The fact the Dragons have won the last 2 games is certainly a testament to the game management skills of the Usk captain.
“Once again they are two great causes that we are playing for so I hope that our fans come along to support us, as it will be a fun day for all who attend.”
