The Men of Gwent played their first home game of the season and managed to come out on top by defeating Zebre 13-0.
The game began slowly for both sides as neither could get a handle on the ball. But it was the home team that opened their account first with a successful penalty kick from Jason Tovey.
The fly half added another kick to the scoreboard to put the Dragons into a firm lead.
With Zebre down to 14 men, because of captain George Biagi being penalised for taking a lineout jumper, the Dragons took the opportunity with both hands. A driving lineout from the Welsh Region saw them go over for the only try of the evening. It was Man of the Match Ed Jackson who claimed the try and Tovey added the extras.
Zebre looked to add their own points to the board with Beyers Ulrich taking a shot at the posts, but both of his attempts were missed before the referee called for half time.
Half Time: Dragons 13 – Zebre 0
Both teams came onto the pitch to change their fates and it was Lyn Jones’ who took control and possession of the final 40 minutes.
Its was the Italians number eight Andries Van Schalkwykwho became their second player to be yellow carded but the home team couldn’t captailise on their advantage. Therefore taking the win with a scoreboard stating 13-0.
