Newport Gwent Dragons are looking to recruit a full time Senior Physiotherapist to join the existing sports medicine team for the 2016/17 season.
Job Purpose:
Based at our training base in the Centre of sporting excellence in Ystrad Mynach and at Rodney Parade, Newport. The person appointed will be responsible for the treatment and rehabilitation of Development and Senior Dragons’ players. Salary will depend on experience but will be commensurate to Band 6 NHS Scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Physiotherapist with daily treatment and management of the long and short term injured.
- In conjunction with the Head Physiotherapist drive the screening, monitoring and implementation of pre-habilitation programs for the senior squad.
- Provide match day support at home and away fixtures as required
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all aspects of physiotherapy treatment, injury management and rehab content in keeping with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidelines.
- Work in conjunction with staff across all disciplines in the rugby department, to maximize the performance of players returning from injury
Person Specification:
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bsc(Hons) Physiotherapy
- Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP)
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- WRU Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) or equivalent qualification
- At least 3 years working in professional sport/rugby, and must have a skill set which includes the practical delivery of performance rehab to professional athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate physiotherapy programs for individual players. Experience of working in an applied and integrated manner as part of a Multi disciplinary team
Desirable:
- Post Graduate qualification in Sport & Exercise Medicine or Sports Physiotherapy
- 5 years as a Physiotherapist in a sports team
- Previous experience working as a Physiotherapist in a professional elite rugby team
- Experience of managing and supervising staff and contribution towards their ongoing development.
The post is offered initially as a fixed term contract for a period of two years commencing with the 2016/17 season.
