All-action second row Nansen moved to the Dragons in the summer from Stade Francais on a two-year deal.
Head Coach Bernard Jackman had been a long-term admirer of Nansen and previously tried to recruit him at Grenoble before finally brining his top target to Wales.
And Nansen revealed Jackman has told him to go out and just play his natural game when Benetton Rugby come to Rodney Parade on Saturday (kick-off 7.35pm).
“Bernard (Jackman) just keeps telling me to keep bringing a physical presence so that is what I plan to do. I will always try to bring it,” smiled Nansen.
“We expect Benetton to be big and physical too. We have seen some footage of them and they look like a side that if you give them the green light they will take it.
“We have definitely got to be on guard with that and take our opportunities when they come.
“I felt I needed a new challenge and Bernard sold the dream to me to come here,” he added. “I know what he wants, he wants change and I want to be a part of it.
“We are the underdog and want to prove a point – I have been that my whole career so I am ready for the challenge here.”
