South African International Zane Kirchner has had surgery on his shoulder following an injury which he sustained in against Connacht in September in the Guinness PRO14.
Youngsters Harri Keddie and Max Williams also make their return this weekend after suffering shoulder injuries as well as Calvin Wellington, who signed for the Dragons in November, has also been named in the matchday 23 and is set to make his first appearance for the Men of Gwent against Saracens in Saturday’s Anglo-Welsh Cup clash.
21-year-old flanker Harri Keddie, who recently signed an extension with the Region, is looking forward to returning to the starting XV and taking on English Premiership hard-hitters Saracens.
“It’s a massive relief and I am really pleased to be back into full training. I am really looking forward to it,’ said Keddie. “I want to get involved in that last run of the season and try and get as many starts in as I can.”
James Chapron, who is involved in the coaching set-up for this weekend’s Anglo-Welsh Cup clash, added; “The four boys who are returning will add enthusiasm; I think that they are all busting to play. They all want to prove that they are worthy of their place in the squad as they have been out for so long and for someone like Max, who’s going into the 20s campaign, it an opportunity to lay his marker down for that as well.”
