Dragons are back on home soil in the Guinness PRO14 for the first time since early October as they face the Scottish side (kick-off 5.30pm).
Jackman has recently taken responsibility for a new-look defence at Dragons and is hoping it will be up to the task when Edinburgh – who defeated Scarlets last time out – arrive in Newport.
“We’ve got to build a system that makes us much more consistent defensively. We’ve got to be dangerous defensively rather than a danger to ourselves,” he said.
“That process has started. It’s quite a different system that we are putting in we want it to be good enough to help us win against Edinburgh.
"Tuesday was all about defence and we got three and a half sessions in last week, whereas normally it's a session and a bit. We have got four weeks of work into it in terms of days, but we have to test it.
“There were areas that were better against Russia, but there were areas we weren’t happy with. But that is part of change,” he added.
“It’s a tough industry and we have to make tough decisions about out defence. We have to move on and make sure recent decisions were right by making it better.”
