Dragons play a first home league game since early October when the team goes up against Edinburgh Rugby in Round Nine of the competition on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 5.30pm).
Tovey – the all-time points scorer at Dragons - could get his first taste of home action since returning on permit from Cross Keys.
And it would be a first appearance for the home side at Rodney Parade since February 2016.
“It will be good to be back,” said Tovey. “Hopefully we can get the supporters on our side early and try and get the Rodney roar back.
“I’ve always loved the place, it is old school and rammed on derby days. It’s always good when the stands are full.”
Tovey will come up against an Edinburgh side that he played for between 2016 and 2018 and he has nothing but praise for his time in the Scottish capital.
“I loved my time in Edinburgh and they treated me well,” said Tovey.
“I got on with all the coaches and they changed me as a rugby player, they made me a better person as well.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time up there and I’m looking forward to catching up with a few this weekend.
“A win is now needed,” he added. “Edinburgh always stay in the fight and they are always in the game until the last minute. We’ve got to stay switched on for 80 minutes, if not 85 minutes, and make sure the error count comes down.
“Defensively we’ve got to be switched on and we have worked on that the last few weeks and you can see the improvements.”
