Leinster Big Guns In Line for Dragons

Johnny Sexton, Garry Ringrose, Rob Kearney, James Ryan and Josh van der Flier in contention to start for Leinster this Saturday as the Dragons head to Dublin.

The Dragons recorded their first PRO14 win of the season against the Southern Kings last Saturday to match Leinster's record of one win, one defeat in the opening two rounds of this year's championship.

The Men of Gwent sit one point behind the PRO14 and European champions, but with an away win long overdue an away win this weekend is always a tall order in Dublin.

Questions were asked in some quarters over the side that Leinster picked in the bonus point win against Cardiff Blues, but they got the job done and Leo Cullen’s side added several front-line players for the match at the Scarlets including Jordan Larmour, James Lowe, Robbie Henshaw, Devin Toner, Cian Healy, Sean Cronin and Tadhg Furlong.

With more Ireland internationals in line for a return that task now looks harder for Bernard Jackman as he returns to his former club,

It’s highly unlikely that all five Ireland internationals will feature for Leinster this Saturday as they have another home game against Edinburgh and an away match at Connacht to come, before a clash against Munster at the Aviva Stadium on October 6th. However, Leinster will be keen to get some game-time into their Ireland players ahead of their Champions Cup opener against Wasps on October 12th.

There wasn’t good news for Jack McGrath, the loosehead prop picked up a knee injury in training last week and is likely to miss the next three matches, whilst Centre Tom Daly went off with a knee MCL injury in the ‘A’ team win over Ulster ‘A’ last week so will be ruled out for 4-6 weeks.

Catch the Dragons next home game against Zebre at Rodney Parade on Saturday 22 September.
