Evans - Let's feed off Grand Slam energy

18/03/2019

Forwards Coach Ian Evans has urged Dragons to ‘feed off the energy’ of Wales epic Grand Slam win when they welcome back their international stars this week.

Ross Moriarty, Aaron Wainwright, Elliot Dee, Hallam Amos and Leon Brown could all come back into contention after the successful Six Nations campaign.

Evans admits Ospreys will also get a lift with their Wales contingent back for Saturday’s big Guinness PRO14 away day at the Liberty Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

But he believes the Dragons will definitely benefit from the return as they look to complete the double over Ospreys this season.

“It was a spectacular weekend to get the Grand Slam so for those boys to come back in they will no doubt bring energy and be on a high,” he said.

“It would be good if we can feed off their energy and give us all a second wind leading into this big game.

“Ospreys will have them back too and they are inundated with internationals, but they had them at Christmas time and we stepped up then.

“It’s a fixture that they have to win and we imagine they will all be involved and they will be fully loaded.

“We haven’t had the medical report through yet, we expect that today. But as long as they are all fit all our players will be in contention for an important fixture,” added Evans.

“We have got (Aaron) Wainwright and Muzz (Ross Moriarty) who are quality to come back into the back row, although Taine (Basham) and Lennon (Greggains) have stepped in and done well.

“But when you play the Ospreys you need that little bit of experience.”
