Lewis targets Scottish scalp

07/03/2019

Dragons back row Bethan Lewis believes Wales Women have every chance of claiming their first Six Nations win of the season this Friday evening at Scotstoun Stadium (kick-off 7.40pm).

Wales Women face Scotland Women as they look to bounce back after slipping to defeat against England Women last time out at Cardiff Arms Park.

“We’ve looked at the England match and fixed what we thought let us down,” said Lewis.

“Maybe we made too many mistakes and they were able to play off them, so we’ve been training hard and we’re confident looking ahead to Scotland now.

“We know they are targeting this match as much as we are because they haven’t won yet either,” she added.

“Of course we want to win, but we have to focus on the performance and the victory will look after itself in the end.”

Head Coach Rowland Phillips added: “It is a big opportunity. All the games have been tough with France away, Italy who are unbeaten in this tournament and of course England.

“But in every one of those games there’s been a lot of positives to take home. Areas where in the past we weren’t competitive we’re now competitive.

“There’s been a lot of positives accumulated over the first three games but now we’ve reached the point where we want to see consistency of performance and more of those moments which will have a positive effect in getting a result in Scotland.”

Of course we want to win, but we have to focus on the performance and the victory will look after itself in the end...
