Ahead of our European Challenge Cup opener with Castres Olympique at Rodney Parade, we hear from the Dragons Official Supporters Club...
And so European Rugby returns to Newport, on a cold and wet night in November (I may be writing this in advance, but I think it’s a fair bet!).
It’s a competition that has treated us fairly well in the past – the victory in Kingholm a few years ago a particular high point, along with beating the Cardiff Blues at Rodney Parade.
Castres have had a difficult start to the Top 14 this season, and with the solid performance that we’ve been putting in, there’s a real opportunity to get up and running early on.
I’m particularly looking forward to seeing James Benjamin back in the mix – he adds a different dynamic to what is a very competitive back-row, and in games like this, it’s crucial that we play to our strengths.
Looking ahead, we’re starting to put in place plans for a DOSC trip to Castres in January – similarly to last year, were working with our travel partners to put an offer together, which we’ll share with members as soon as possible.
I was lucky enough to travel to Castres the last time we played them, and through the “vin rouge” haze it was a fantastic trip, and one which I’m looking forward to doing again.
In the meantime, why not book onto our trips to Worcester and Cardiff – visit www.dragonssupportersclub.com and get involved.
See you on the terraces,
Ryan, DOSC Treasurer
