In response to media speculation Dragons confirm Cory Hill will be leaving the region at the expiration of his current contract after seven seasons at Rodney Parade.
Dragons would like to thank Cory for his contribution in the roles he played as captain and as a player in helping the development of the team on and off the field.
Dragons have asked the relevant bodies to look into the circumstances around the move.
Commenting on the departure of Hill, Director of Dragons Rugby, Dean Ryan, said, “We’re disappointed to see Cory depart and everyone at Dragons Rugby wishes Cory well for the future.”
Cory Hill has made 110 appearances for the Dragons, scoring 13 tries. Hill was made was made club captain for 2017/18 season and led the Dragons on 30 occasions which puts him fourth in the list of appearances as captain for the Dragons.
He represented his home town of Pontypridd throughout all age grades until Under-15 level. He made his first start for the club in April 2010 in a game against Llanelli and scored two tries on his debut.
A graduate of Cardiff Blues academy, Hill played 10 times for Arms Park outfit before joined the Dragons in 2013 after a short stint with Moseley, making his debut for the Men of Gwent against Wasps in the LV=Cup at Rodney Parade.
In April 2012 he was selected as captain of the Wales Under-20 squad for the Junior World Cup in South Africa. Hill became Wales cap number 1127 when he came off the bench for his senior international debut against Australia in November 2016.
Initially selected for the 2017 Wales summer tour to Tonga and Samoa, in June of that year Hill was a mid-tour call up for the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand.
Hill was named co-captain of the Welsh squad - alongside Ellis Jenkins - for the 2018 summer two Test tour in Argentina and to USA where they played South Africa.
After scoring the winning try against England in February 2019, he was included in the 2019 Rugby World Cup squad, but returned without featuring after suffering a stress fracture.
Hill resumed action for the Dragons in December last year and featured in victories for the Men of Gwent over Worcester Warriors and Scarlets with his last outing the final group game against Enisei-STM at Rodney Parade back in January as the Dragons secured a quarter-final place in the European Challenge Cup.
