Welsh referee Nigel Owens will be the guest speaker as Dragons Community raise funds for the region’s inclusion programme at a special event in May - and there are now less than ten tables left available!
The rugby inclusion provision at Dragons has grown dramatically over the last 12 months, as we bid to make our sport truly accessible to all.
Dragons are continually looking at alternative ways to widen the rugby landscape and engage with enthusiasts from all walks of life – all under the #JerseyForAll banner.
To help raise funds, Dragons Community team are now holding a special event at Rodney Parade on Friday, May 29 (doors open 6.30pm for a 7pm start) with Nigel Owens the special guest.
Nigel is one of the world’s best rugby officials and is also the first openly gay man to referee at the highest level. Born and bred in Mynyddcerrig, Nigel first picked up the whistle aged 16.
He officiated his first international in 2005 –between Ireland and Japan in Osaka – and years later made his World Cup debut where he took charge of the Argentina versus Georgia game in Lyon.
He is the only referee to officiate three consecutive Heineken Cup finals, has refereed a record six PRO14 finals and in 2015 refereed the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final between New Zealand and Australia.
Currently in his 14th season as a Six Nations official, Nigel will be speaking at the event about his life and career in rugby.
Tickets to the special event are priced at £35 each and on General Sale NOW by clicking HERE or calling 01633 674990.
The night will include a hot fork buffet for guests.
