Dean Ryan praised the all-action performance of young prop Josh Reynolds in the home loss to Benetton Rugby – but admitted it was a night for collective responsibility in defeat.
Reynolds was handed his first Guinness PRO14 start in the 37-25 loss to the Italians at Rodney Parade.
The Dragons Academy product lit up the game with a sensational break and offload to set up Rhodri Williams for a try on the stroke of half-time.
The 21-year-old also impressed in the set piece and loose to the delight of Ryan.
“I also thought Josh Reynolds played outstanding today,” said Ryan.
“Sometimes we can’t miss those things that are going on just because another area in the team isn’t working as well.
“It’s a week where we’ve lost some energy around some stuff, that doesn’t mean there’s people not really putting their hand up for credible performances,” he added
“They just become about individual performances and it’s not about individuals it’s about collective. Tonight was not a night we’ll be proud of as a collective.”
