Warren: Make every game count

12/03/2020

Centre Adam Warren has urged his team-mates to ‘make every game count’ - with plenty to play for in both the Guinness PRO14 and European Challenge Cup.

Dragons went on a five-game winning streak on home soil before the defeat to Benetton Rugby and still have league champions Leinster, Ulster and Cardiff Blues to face at Rodney Parade.

There is also the mouth-watering European quarter-final with Bristol Bears in early April.

First up is an away trip to the Kingspan Stadium to tackle the might of Ulster on Friday, March 20 (kick-off 7.35pm).

And Warren acknowledges it is a big few months ahead for Dean Ryan’s men as they look to take full advantage of a productive opening half of the campaign.

“It’s an exciting time of the season. We’ve a lot of big fixtures coming up and lots to play for,” said Warren.

“We’ve still got a quarter-final in the Challenge Cup, the South Africa tour and Judgement Day. As a group, we’re working hard to make every game count.”

Dragons are back on home soil next month with two games against Irish provinces as they face Ulster (April 11) and Leinster (April 24).

And Warren is eager for the team to get back to winning ways in Newport and continue to build a home fortress.

“It has been going well for us here,” he said. “We’ve found ourselves in a place where we have ground out results in Newport and become hard to beat.

“We want it to be tough to visit us and there is a good vibe at home.

“In previous years there have been times when games have run away from us or we’ve been edged out. Now we’re showing plenty of fight.”
