Boss Dean Ryan believes the new-look coaching team at Dragons will bring the best out of the players as the new Guinness PRO14 season closes in.
Mefin Davies, Gordon Ross, Luke Narraway and Simon Cross have all joined the backroom team full-time this summer as Ryan has shaped his staff.
And the Director of Dragons Rugby believes the coaching staff in place – many of which he has worked with previously – can now help the squad evolve over the coming seasons.
“We’ve always talked that our group needs support if they are going to get better and that support needs to be the highest standard,” said Ryan.
“To have people like Gordon, Mefin and Luke, plus Crossy as well who has come in full-time, we have a much better support base to help people get better.
“You look at someone like Mefin, who I’ve worked with both as a player and as a coach. I think he is one of the best scrum coaches around.
“I don’t think we are going to see anything revolutionary,” he added. “What we are going to see is lots of the small things constantly challenged and constantly supported to try and help people get better.
“I’d love coaching to be that easy. That one week I could tell the players and then everything turns out.
“It is a slow process of support and challenging and getting people to see things themselves."
