Dragons forward James Benjamin has made the positional move from back row to hooker after a transition over the last twelve months.
Benjamin has made 65 appearances for the Dragons scoring five tries since coming through the academy system at the region.
Benjamin has been working hard behind the scenes over the past twelve months and the project to transition to the front row.
Boss Dean Ryan is keen for the Newport born Benjamin to make an impact in his new-found role and is excited at the potential of the transition.
Director of Dragons Rugby Dean Ryan said: “James is a talented rugby player and we just need to find the optimum position for him.
“He obviously has to focus on learning the fundamentals of the position and we are grateful to Ebbw Vale in their support of this over the coming weeks.
“If James can continue to develop and meet those requirements, then we know he is a very capable ball player and will add something to our game.”
Benjamin said “It has been a challenging but enjoyable twelve months making that transition to hooker and I definitely still have plenty left to learn.
“But I am just excited to get back on the field and play rugby and I am grateful to both Ebbw Vale and the Dragons for giving me the opportunity to do that over the coming weeks.”
