The new season is fast approaching and extensive work at Rodney Parade is also nearing completion – with a striking new look ahead of the big kick-off on home soil!
The end is firmly in sight for stadium redevelopment work at the home of the Dragons with a superb new playing surface now installed.
Contractors South Wales Sports Grounds have been busy over the last few months with the final stages of pitch work now complete.
State-of-the-art stitching equipment, which arrived from Chelsea FC and has now been shipped out to Barcelona, has finished work on the hybrid playing surface so the groundstaff team can continue pitch preparations.
The pitch is set to be used for the first time when Newport County tackle Premiership giants Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
The pitch is framed and highlighted by a striking fresh 4G surround, taking inspiration from the coat of arms for the city of Newport.
New balconies and bifold doors for hospitality areas in the Bisley Stand are also complete and work on the LED floodlights is complete.
The new home dressing room, that will double the old floor space, is being fitted out and decorated.
Jon Raymond, Facilities Manager at Dragons Rugby, said: “It’s been a busy but rewarding few months at the stadium and we are thrilled with how good Rodney Parade is now looking.
“We can’t wait for fans to return and see the fresh appearance and our thanks go to all the contractors, especially South Wales Sports Grounds, for their professionalism and hard work throughout the process.
