Dragons Academy Under-18s made it back-to-back victories over the Scarlets Under-18s with another comeback win over their rivals at Ystrad Mynach on Wednesday night.
Tries from Ben Moa, Che Hope, Frankie Souto, Harry Jarvis and a brace from Morgan Lloyd - plus six points from the boot of full back Joe Westwood - was enough for the home side to seal a 36-26 victory over their rivals.
Scarlets managed four tries of their own and despite scrum half Archie Hughes impressing with two tries they suffered their third straight defeat.
Next up for the Dragons is another home game this time against the Cardiff Blues on Sunday.
It was a fast start at Ystrad Mynach and it was the away side who scored first as they powered over in the corner.
Scrum half Archie Hughes scored his side’s second of the contest as he was on hand to finish under the sticks.
Hughes then added his second and his side’s third as they raced into a 19-0 lead in the opening quarter at Ystrad Mynach.
But the home side refused to lay down and two quick fire tries from scrum half Morgan Lloyd, who once again impressed, brought Dragons to within seven points at half time.
The home side started the second half as they ended the first with winger Walker Price making a brilliant break before passing inside to flanker Moa to race over the whitewash. Westwood brought the scores level at 19-19 with the conversion.
Two quick scores followed with the Scarlets replacement winger taking an interception and racing away to score unopposed and regain the lead.
It didn’t last long, though, as the Dragons responded almost instantly thanks to replacement scrum half Che Hope who made an immediate impact off the bench, and the scores were level once more heading into the final quarter.
And it was the home side who took control of the game with their bench making a big impact once again with replacements Frankie Souto and Harry Jarvis sealing the victory for the Men of Gwent.
