Moriarty returns for Warriors battle

19/03/2021

Wales international Ross Moriarty returns to the starting line-up as Dragons face Glasgow Warriors in the Guinness PRO14 at Principality Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

Moriarty is one of four changes made to the starting line-up by Director of Dragons Rugby, Dean Ryan, for the Round 16 clash in the Welsh capital.

Ollie Griffiths moves to the seven jersey as Moriarty slots in at Number Eight while lock Matthew Screech returns to the side to partner Joe Davies in the second row.

Argentina international scrum half Gonzalo Bertranou starts, alongside Sam Davies at half back, while the final change is a comeback for wing Ashton Hewitt.

Rhodri Williams is set to make his 100th Guinness PRO14 appearance from the bench while there is also a return for Jordan Williams among the replacements.

“Glasgow are renowned for attacking and a high tempo game, but I felt we controlled long periods of the game when we played up in Scotland earlier his season,” said Ryan.

“I am sure they will come to play a fast game at Principality Stadium and cause us as much stress as they can.

“We knew last week against Ulster would be an incredibly physical contest and I was pleased with what we achieved. Now we must build on that,” he added.

“I was disappointed we gave Ulster a 14-point head-start, but our reaction to that and our physicality and competitiveness was a significant step forward.”

Dragons (v Glasgow Warriors): Josh Lewis, Jonah Holmes, Aneurin Owen, Jamie Roberts, Ashton Hewitt, Sam Davies, Gonzalo Bertranou, Brok Harris, Richard Hibbard, Lloyd Fairbrother, Joe Davies, Matthew Screech, Harrison Keddie (c), Ollie Griffiths, Ross Moriarty

Replacements: Rhys Lawrence, Josh Reynolds, Chris Coleman, Ben Carter, Ben Fry, Rhodri Williams, Nick Tompkins, Jordan Williams
