The Dragons Women U18s continued their return to competitive action in round two of the Regional Festival in wet and windy conditions at Cae Wern in Merthyr on Sunday.
The girls of Gwent similar to last week managed a victory, one draw and two losses in four highly contested contests.
Dragons faced Welsh rivals Cardiff Rugby, RGC, Ospreys and Scarlets as the girls battled it out for bragging rights and a potential place in the Women’s national squad selected by Head Coach Liza Burgess at the end of February.
They started the tournament against the girls from the capital once again and despite a competitive match-up it was Cardiff who claimed a 7-0 victory, with the girls of Gwent narrowing the scoreline from last week.
The Dragons managed to get their first victory in game two as they beat North Wales side RGC 7-5 thanks to a try from half back Demi Williams and the decisive conversion from Savannah Picton-Powell.
The girls led by captain Leanna Maybank, suffered a 7-0 defeat to Ospreys in game three before finishing the day strongly, claiming a 5-5 draw with the Scarlets thanks to a try from Nikkita Olsen.
The girls will have one final opportunity to impress as they return to action next week in the final Regional Festival at the Cardiff Arms Park before the national squad gets announced.
