The Grounds Team at Rodney Parade have taken home another top award after being named the Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year.
The hard-working team from Newport were shortlisted in the Grounds Management Association (GMA) Awards 2022 held in Birmingham on Wednesday evening.
And Jon Raymond, James Stuart and Joseph Bates secured the top prize at the prestigious GMA Industry Awards at The Vox at NEC Birmingham after beating fellow nominees Ipswich Town.
The award – sponsored by AMS Robotics - was presented to the Rodney Parade team in recognition of having the best sports turf management at a football club, outside of the men’s Premier League and Championship in England, and men’s Premier League in Scotland.
It is the second time in six months that the Grounds Team have scooped a top award – they were previously named the Grounds Team of the Season in Sky Bet League Two in May.
Mark Jones, Managing Director at Dragons RFC, said: “We’re all absolutely delighted at Rodney Parade that the Grounds Team have been recognised once again with a leading industry award.
“The team works around the clock to produce a world class playing surface for both Dragons RFC and Newport County and this latest award is deserved recognition to all the staff.”
Congratulations to the Grounds Team from us all at Dragons RFC.
