Forwards Coach Mefin Davies has praised the positive energy and atmosphere in the Dragons RFC squad ahead of the big derby with Ospreys at Rodney Parade.
The Men of Gwent are back on home soil for the big BKT United Rugby Championship encounter on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).
And after positive home shows against Munster and the Cell C Sharks, Davies has talked about the vibe in camp and positive outlook adopted by the players.
“It’s always important to get a good start to any season and the win against Munster was probably a relief and everyone enjoyed that moment so much,” he said.
“We are after that same feeling again at home. Making sure we are thriving and making all the right efforts.
“We are certainly not deflated. We are trying our best and are gutted we haven’t won more games. But there is a feel-good factor here still.
“The great thing is we've got a good training programme here, with awareness and training loads,” he added.
“Training has been good this week, people are bouncing and keen to get involved with the next game. That is really refreshing.
“They are super keen to prove people wrong, that is the competition and environment we have here.”
Davies also believes Dragons have been in the fight in most games this season and are learning the lessons of every encounter.
“The most important thing is we learn from our mistakes,” he added.
“The reality is we had opportunities in the Cardiff game. Yes, discipline at the tail end of the game put us under pressure.
“We weren’t under any pressure for a lot of the game and we were putting pressure on Cardiff.
“We've not given up or are deflated or anything like that. There is a good atmosphere here, good energy about the place.
“Yes, we're hurting from those results and that is a good thing.
“We have not got to make sure we learn quickly, make sure we are disciplined in areas, so we have a better chance of winning.”
