Dragons RFC can announce that Dai Rees is to leave his position as Head of Academy after two seasons at Rodney Parade.
Rees returned to the Dragons in the summer of 2021 for his second spell at the region, following more than a decade working for the Hong Kong Rugby Union.
“Following my return from 12 years in Hong Kong I was grateful to be offered the Head of Academy position and to work back within Welsh rugby after many years away,” Dai commented.
“The opportunity at Dragons has allowed me to establish a far clearer vision for my future at a professional and personal level.
“With Dragons RFC moving into a new phase of their development, the right time has come for me to step down from my position as Head of Academy and to develop my passion for leadership, mentoring and personal development in other areas.
“I would like to thank Dragons for the opportunity to work with so many fantastic young players and talent coaching staff.
“I wish everyone at the club massive success both on and off the field over the coming years.”
Mark Jones, Managing Director at Dragons RFC, added: “We’re hugely appreciative to Dai for his commitment and effort over the last two years with the Dragons Academy. We wish him every success with his future endeavours and Dai and his family will always be warmly welcomed at Rodney Parade.
“Our commitment to developing the best young talent from the Gwent region and beyond is stronger than ever and we will announce future plans for the Dragons Academy following Dai’s departure in due course.”
